Meet Argiope aurantia, commonly known as the "writer spider" or the black and yellow garden spider. She's on the neighbor's fence waiting for a passerby. Hopefully she's been more productive this weekend than I have.

Not even a big argiope. They're beautiful, amazing spiders. Their webs can be enormous, but thankfully are hard to miss because the center is covered in thick white zigzags for structural integrity.
ReplyDeleteI seem to not miss their webs regularly when I'm walking the dogs at dusk-ish. Nothing as fun as having three dogs drag you through a 3-foot spider web. And then I feel guilty, because the spider is hanging there going, "Damn, lady, watch where you're going!"
