Come Into My Parlor

Meet Argiope aurantia, commonly known as the "writer spider" or the black and yellow garden spider. She's on the neighbor's fence waiting for a passerby. Hopefully she's been more productive this weekend than I have.

  1. Not even a big argiope. They're beautiful, amazing spiders. Their webs can be enormous, but thankfully are hard to miss because the center is covered in thick white zigzags for structural integrity.

  2. I seem to not miss their webs regularly when I'm walking the dogs at dusk-ish. Nothing as fun as having three dogs drag you through a 3-foot spider web. And then I feel guilty, because the spider is hanging there going, "Damn, lady, watch where you're going!"
